Soccer is a growing sport in
America, and the same can be said right here in Brookline, where soccer
fever has spread like wildfire. The Brookline Youth Soccer
Association has been a fall ritual since 1982. The program, which runs
from August through November, attracts hundreds of area youths ages 5
through 16. A traveling spring program was instituted in 2001 with the
PAWest Soccer League.
BYSA began playing their games
at the Community Center fields, then in 1999 switched to Moore Park.
On any given fall weekend, the park is packed with people, young and
old alike, all coming for the games, which run from morning until evening.
The action is fast and furious, and it's a fun way to spend some time with
the kids.
The officers and coaches involved
with the program have always promoted the Brookline Soccer league as
a family-oriented activity, and for an organization that is so large,
they manage to pull it off, time and time again.
For over twenty years, the
Brookline Youth Soccer Association has provided a quality recreational
alternative for the children of Brookline. The program is well-managed,
safe, and competitive. BYSA is one of the community's best assets. We
hope you enjoy this look back in time.
