The Pioneer School, shown here in 1963, is located at 775 Dunster Street. Built in 1958, the one-story school was equipped with the latest materials for educating and training boys and girls with multiple and physical disabilities. The school includes wide corridors and doorways to permit the use of wheelchairs. The school also has a therapy department, allowing pupils to attend regular classes without absence, while receiving therapy within the same premises.

Today, the Pioneer School building has been partitioned, with the Pioneer School operating in one half of the complex and the South Brook Middle School occupying the other half.
