The 1979-1980 Our Lady Of Loreto Lady Lions captured the State Championship at Greensburg Central Catholic High School by beating St. Thomas Aquinas High from Scranton, Pa., by the score of 58-48. The victory capped off an undefeated season for the Diocesan champions.

This extremely talented team featured the McConnell sisters, Suzie and Kathy, who in the next several years would propel the Seton-LaSalle Lady Rebels into the national spotlight. Suzie went on to a sparkling collegiate, olympic and professional basketball career.
