This is a photo of Alice M. Carmalt Elementary School shortly before it opened for the first school year in 1937. Over the years the school has undergone many renovations and additions were built in the rear of the school. The grounds include basketball courts, tennis courts and a baseball field. The school is now known as Carmalt Academy of Science and Technology and is one of the city's premier education facilities.
