THE OLD BASEBALL FIELDS

The first three pictures, placed side by side, show the old Community Center baseball fields as I remembered them in the mid-1970s, ratty but in their own way a beautiful sight. The black and white photos afterwards show the fields in the mid-1960s, when the old dugout and old bleachers were still in use. Finally is a picture of the fields looking from the outfield fences and showing the old farmhouse atop the hill. So many Brookline children grew up competing against their friends, and foes, on these two fields, and now they are gone, replaced by the new Sam Bryen Baseball Complex. However, the old Little League and Senior League fields met the community's needs just fine for thirty years, from 1951 through 1981.
