Here is a fascinating look at Brookline Boulevard, in 1936. The country is mired in the Great Depression, and Roosevelt would soon be entering his second term as President. Despite the hardships gripping the nation, it seems as though Brookline Boulevard is bustling with activity. Note the old-style trolley cars passing near Flatbush. |

Here is the same look at the Boulevard 68 years later, in 2004. Strangley enough, it looks quite different but by the same token it looks eerily similar. The march of time has definitely left it's mark on Brookline Boulevard, but the old style buildings have withstood the onslaught and help to give Brookline a rustic look that blends in quite nicely with the passing of the years. |
