Gregg
Gielas Hits Two Milestone Homeruns
Eleven-year old Gregg Gielas of
BYMC gained the distinction of hitting the first homerun in the new Sam
Bryen baseball complex on June 21, 1981 versus American Legion.
Coincidentally, this honor was earned in addition to being the last
batter to hit a homerun out of the old Little League field, in a game
the previous night, June 20, versus Resurrection.
Today, over 20 years later,
Gregg still has both of those balls, which were returned to him after his
two milestone shots. He keeps them close to his heart as reminders of the
good times in Brookline Little League baseball!
