A New
Generation of Champions
The 2004 Brookline Knights Twerps,
led by Coach Donnie Helman, capped off a dominant season with a 22-6 victory
over Sto-Rox in the WPSYFL Championship Game, November 6, at Carlynton
Stadium.
The Twerps began the season with two
quick wins against Carlynton and Avonworth. In their third game, the Knights
were tripped up by Sto-Rox, 18-14. They rebounded to run off an string of
seven successive wins. After disposing of Carlynton 16-8 in a mudbath during
the semi-final game, the title victory against Sto-Rox was sweet revenge for
Brookline's newest champions! |
|
The title game was all Brookline.
Parris Gilchrist opened the scoring with a 23 yard run. Connor McGinnis added
touchdowns on runs of fifteen and four yards, giving the Knights a commanding
22-0 lead early in the third quarter. The Brookline defense totally shut down
the Sto-Rox offense. A late touchdown prevented a shutout, but the blemish did
nothing to spoil the overwhelming performance by Brookline's tiniest
Knights.
Coach Donnie's potent offense averaged
over 27 points a game for the season. Below are the game by game results
from the Twerps fantastic 2004 season and some couple photos from the
