Pushball was a big thing, literally and figuratively, in the 1960s. The object was for your team to push this giant ball down the field and get it across the goal line. Two teams of seven or eight players would square off and see who could manipulate the big ball and score as many points as possible. The contests were sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation. The gentleman in the foreground refereeing the contest is none other than Brookline's legendary Recreation Director Chuck Senft. |
