Women's Bowling League - 1944
|
This is the Brookline Women's Bowling League at the Cedars of Lebanon Hall on Brookline Boulevard, in 1944. I am not sure if the Cedars once housed a bowling alley, but I know that at one time it was a movie theatre. The women appear to have gathered for a banquet, and it looks like they are in for a nice evening out. Remember that these are the days of Rosie the Riveter and maximum effort on the homefront to support the troops overseas. Pittsburgh was in the forefront of this effort, pumping out the steel that went into the ships, tanks, cannon and shells that were so vital to the Allied war machine. Are there any Rosie's in this bunch? Possibly, along with a few pretty fair ten-pin averages. * Photo provided by Doris Anderson Morrison * |
