Here are two photos of Brookline Boulevard taken in May of 1967. The upper photo shows the intersection at Castlegate Avenue, where the firehouse stands. The trolley right-of-way had only recently been completed paved and motorists were delighted with the ease of transportation now on the increasingly busy roadway. The photo below is taken from in front of the firehouse looking towards Pioneer Avenue. How many of us can remember the Foodland Grocery Store which stood next to the firehouse? For some time after Foodland moved out, it was Chahine Bakery. It is now the site of Pitaland.
