Fourth of July Parade
 - 1961

Here is a photo from the Fourth of July Parade in 1961, taken from the second floor of 1017 Brookline Boulevard, the Park Side Grill. The photo shows the crowd gathering at the Brookline Monument, or the cannon. The Boulevard shows the trolley tracks and red brick surface that was such a common site at the time.

Brookline no longer has a fourth of July parade. For years there was a parade every year. I do not know when or why the tradition stopped. I'm sure it was a great way to get together on a nice summer day and spend time with friends and neighbors. Oh well, we still have the Memorial Day Parade.
