Depression Era Brookline Boulevard - 1936 (#2)
|
Here is a look at the end of the Boulevard near Pioneer Avenue in 1936. You can buy some Meadow Gold Ice Cream at the Ice Cream Parlor or fill your prescription at the pharmacy near the corner. You can fill your gas tank at the Pennzoil station on the corner, if you can afford the gas. Remember that it is the Depression. The pharmacy near the corner would some day become Brookline Pharmacy, owned by the Haley family, and the corner gas station would become a pizza parlor. In 1999, all of the buildings shown in this photo were razed and a new CVS Pharmacy was built. |
