Brookline Boulevard - 1928
|
Brookline Boulevard has not looked like this in over 70 years. This photo, taken in January, 1928, shows the 800 block of Brookline Boulevard looking down towards the intersection with Stebbins Street, taken approximately at the intersection with Flatbush. Brookline was in the midst of an economic and property development boom at the time, as was the United States in general, which was nearing the end of the Roaring 20s. The trolley car tracks were used by route 39-Brookline of the Pittsburgh Railways Company and were still the main source of transportation for most of the local population, although it appears that the automobile was picking up in popularity, judging by all the newer models parked at curbside. |
