Brookline Boulevard at the intersection with Castlegate Avenue in 1924. The three buildings before the intersection are the Brookline Bakery (now Party Cake Bakery), a general store, and a drug store (now Blockbuster Video). The 15-year old firehouse, built in 1909, stands watch. The firehouse tower was, at this time, used to spot smoke since no fire alarms had yet been installed in the community. It was also used to hang the wet fire hoses to dry.
