This is the corner of Brookline Boulevard and West Liberty Avenue in 1909. Work is beginning on the paving of the lower portion of the boulevard (what is now Bodkin Street) with the Belgian Blocks that still are present today. The trolley line, which heads up the right-of-way to the right of the photo, has just been upgraded to a double-track line that would bring more frequent and reliable public transportation to the community. This was a big step in the development of the community.
