Carnegie Technology
 School

The Carnegie Institute of Technology was founded in 1900 and over the last 100 years has built a reputation as one of the premier Technical Universitys in the entire world. Merged in 1966 with the Mellon Institute, the school is now called Carnegie-Mellon University.

The school's advancements in robotics have creeped into most every aspect of life here on earth, and have helped man explore the wonders of the solar system. Carnegie-Mellon University is one of the brightest assets in the city of Pittsburgh, and another grand achievement of it's founder and namesake, Andrew Carnegie.

A good view of Oakland
Showing the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon and the city of
 Pittsburgh in the distance.

Here is an aerial view of Oakland taken in the early 1990s. It shows a bit of Schenley Park in the left foreground, with Carnegie Mellon University and the Carnegie Institute on the right. The University of Pittsburgh, with the Hillman Library, the Cathedral of Learning and the campus buildings are in the center. The skyscrapers and bridges of the city of Pittsburgh stand in the background. An interesting view as normally we see things from the other direction, with the city in the foreground and Oakland in the distance.
