1/8/08 - I don't think anyone noticed, and even though I knew, I forgot! On this day in 1908, the Brookline community was annexed into the city of Pittsburgh. Today, in 2008, there were no fireworks, and no parade down Brookline Boulevard or Grant Street in town. Nobody seemed to care ... but, for the record, as a neighborhood in the city of Pittsburgh, the Brookline community is now officially 100 years old!

This website began in April of 1998. It was put in hibernation back in August of 2001, and sat idle until March 2004 when the Three Rivers Freenet shut down its server. Thanks to gentle prodding by Amy Fisher and Linda Dimitroff, work began again in earnest in August 2004 when the South Pittsburgh Development Corporation began hosting the site. In March 2008 the website found a new sponsor, the Brookline Recreation Center Advisory Council. Once again, thanks to everyone who has helped our over the past decade to keep this site growing and available on the World Wide Web ... Clint Burton.
